This year’s highly anticipated report features an eras-style rundown on user’s music evolution, plus plenty of AI.

Think you know how your year went? You may be in for a rude awakening.
Spotify Wrapped 2024 waltzed into inboxes Wednesday morning, undoubtedly carrying on its arm some hard truths. Maybe you listened to 40 hours of heartbreak pop, or a whole week’s worth of Taylor Swift. Perhaps you were in the top 1% of listeners for “Defying Gravity,” beating out even the most ardent of theater geeks.
Whatever the revelation, music streamers can delight or despair as Spotify unveils personalized data-driven reports with insights on whose music they listened to most and for how long.
A capstone for the year, the release of Spotify Wrapped has become a cultural phenomenon. It offers a glimpse into “a point of reflection and a reminder of the year that’s gone by,” says Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial. Taylor Swift was the top global artist for the second year in a row.
Here’s how to access your Spotify Wrapped and what’s new this year.
How to see Spotify Wrapped: Access yours easily
To access your Spotify Wrapped, head to the app and find the tab labeled “wrapped” at the top which will take you to your complete personalized experience.
If you’re an author or podcast-maker you can access insights on your own content separately.
If you’re not seeing the “wrapped” option, update your app and try again.
When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking? Does it include December?
We don’t know − and that’s on purpose.
While it can be assumed that the platform does not track your December listening since it is excluded from the month-by-month report, an exact end date for data collection is not released.
That’s partly because the popularity of Wrapped lies in users being delightfully surprised (or horrified) by their music choices. If a specific date were given, listeners might attempt to engineer the results, tidying up any “cringey” streams that might sneak their way into the data.
Spotify would rather you press play on that “Glee” cast album with abandon, or not think twice about streaming scream-singing to “MMmbop” on the car ride to work.
What’s new in Spotify Wrapped 2024?
While some features of this year’s report appear familiar, there are plenty of shiny new bells and whistles.
One such feature is “Your Music Evolution,” a data-driven story of the music phases you passed through over the course of the year. With up to three distinct phases, the concept feels appropriate for 2024 in which Taylor Swift broke records with her “Eras Tour” and changed the lexicon as laypeople began coining their own “eras.”
Like Apple Music’s Replay feature, Spotify also added listening streaks to its year-end report, showing how many days straight you tuned into a certain artist. The share button also got a makeover, showing users whether the song or album they’re sending is on their top-listened-to list.
AI takes center stage on Spotify Wrapped
Spotify entered the artificial intelligence game in 2023 with its AI DJ feature, now offered in Spanish, which curates a playlist for listeners. Now, AI DJ is integrated into Wrapped to allow premium users to search music with prompts like “find me more artists like my top listened to.”
This year’s Wrapped also features a specialized AI podcast with a rundown on your listening habits powered by Google’s Notebook LM.
Spotify Wrapped stretches beyond music to podcasts, audiobooks
As the skyrocketing popularity of audiobooks blurs the lines between reading and listening, Spotify opened its Wrapped umbrella to cover the trends that dominated virtual bookshelves.
This year’s report offers a rundown on the top authors and audiobooks consumed globally, plus a feature for authors themselves to see who tuned into their work (musicians and podcasters have access to the same feature).
Podcasts have also become a must-have for streaming platforms, as people increasingly turn to the chatter of true crime sleuths, quasi-dating experts and cultural commentators for daily background noise.
“Podcasts are a major force in how we communicate ideas today,” Jordan Newman, the Head of Content Partnerships at Spotify, said at a briefing. From Joe Rogan to Alex Cooper, podcast hosts have become powerful pundits, and their shows are the “digital town squares where political discourse is happening,” Newman says.
Spotify offers a blend of video and audio, and this year’s Wrapped will feature short-form videos from popular podcast hosts thanking their most loyal listeners. A “2024 in Podcasts” editorial hub will also appear on the app, with recommended listening for users in search of a new show.
Spotify logo gets a makeover
Wrapped is no small event and Spotify’s iconic bright green logo is getting all dressed up for the occasion. As part of the launch, the streamer is debuting several new “expressive” logos that lean into punk, coquette or Western aesthetics.
When does Spotify Wrapped come out?
Spotify Wrapped was released Wednesday at 8 am ET Dec. 4.
The accompanying physical campaign hit billboards Wednesday as well, with displays specialized to cities’ streaming habits across the globe. In Mexico City, Peso Pluma graced billboards, in West Hollywood Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” came to life and in New York, Manhattan got a Tinashe billboard for being the “nastiest” borough.
