What’s one instance where the saying, “Stars—they’re just like us” doesn’t quite cut it? Of course, when it comes to their scene-stealing engagement rings. From the celebrities who have amassed not just one sparkler, but an entire collection of diamond options for their ring finger, to those who bamboozle us every time we catch a glimpse of their mega-carat rocks, the public fascination with celebrity engagement rings is nothing new.

Celebrities, more than any other culture influencer, tend to move the needle when it comes to trends in stones, cuts, and settings. Case in point: Blake Lively was credited with repopularizing oval-shaped rings back in 2012, thanks to her flawless and rare fancy light pink stone, while Emily Ratajkowski and Megan Fox caused a surge in searches for distinctive “Toi et Moi” styles in 2018 and 2022, respectively.

Just like the couture creations that wear on the red carpet, A-lister engagement rings are a fantasy that’s fun for style connoisseurs to obsess over (and maybe an added incentive for the rest of us to play the lottery every once in a while). With estimated costs often up to millions of dollars, these precious gems are the ultimate status symbol. Thankfully, with the proliferation of companies creating engagement rings for all budgets and the prominence of lab-grown diamonds and vintage options, you can still pay homage to your favorite stars’ rings with the right amount of research and creativity.

Read on for a list of the celebrity engagement rings that take our breath away, and what you need to know about each statement sparkler.

Blake Lively’s Oval Ring

Ever wondered what a $2 million engagement ring looks like? It’s safe to say that there’s more than one reason Blake Lively said “yes” when Ryan Reynolds popped the question. The actress’ stunning ring is among the most-searched of all time. Designed by Lorraine Schwartz, it incorporates a 12-carat light pink flawless diamond and a rose gold diamond pavé band. Lively has called it her “most treasured possession.” We can see why!

If there’s one supermodel who’s reliably frosted in diamonds, it’s Hailey Bieber. Her husband, Justin Bieber, proposed in 2018 with an oval solitaire on a simple gold band by NYC designer Jack Solow of Solow & Co. When the couple welcomed their first child this year, the Rhode founder refashioned her original engagement ring into a pinky ring and received an upgrade in the form of an elongated diamond, that’s one carat bigger than her original by celebrity favorite Lorraine Schwartz.

Amal Clooney’s Ethically Sourced Ring

Hearts broke around the world when Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney finally settled down, but women everywhere were simultaneously in awe of his stylish and accomplished barrister fiancée, Amal Alamuddin. Clooney, fittingly, got down on one knee to the human rights lawyer with an ethically sourced and responsibly mined gem. Mrs. Clooney’s seven-carat emerald cut stone is flanked by two tapered baguettes and set on a platinum band, and experts estimate that the classic and elegant ring is worth up to $500,000.

Everything about Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s style is unique, so naturally the actress’ engagement ring would be a distinctive choice. Designed by Stephen Webster, Fox’s ring combines two pear-shaped stones in the form of a vivid emerald and a brilliant white diamond, believed to be around three carats each. The stones, which sit on an 18-carat gold pavé band, come together romantically, hence the “toi et moi”—aka you and me—name. The unusual ring is reportedly worth up to $415,000.

Beyoncé’s ring is so spectacular. Though the global superstar rarely wears it out in public, it’s one unforgettable ring. Another creation of Lorraine Schwartz, Jay-Z tapped the designer back in 2007 for the colossal 18-carat emerald cut diamond, which rests in a split shank setting on a pavé band. With a rumored valuation of up to $5 million, Beyoncé likely doesn’t wear it out for safety reasons. Rather, the performer and her husband have matching wedding tattoos on their ring fingers—that’s one way to never leave home without it!

Posh by name, posh by nature. Victoria Beckham doesn’t have one engagement ring; she has an entire fleet of them. According to experts, the singer-turned-designer has amassed up to 15 rings since she and David Beckham said “I do” 25 years ago. When the footballer proposed to the then-Spice Girl in 1998, he did so with a marquise-cut yellow diamond set on a yellow gold band. In the years since, she’s been papped with an emerald cut diamond with side baguettes, a pink champagne halo diamond ring, an eye-popping 17-carat pear-cut stone, as well as ruby, sapphire, green emerald, and moonstone rings, and several square cut diamonds too.

Colin Jost opted for a ring as timelessly beautiful and unique as his partner Scarlett Johansson. The actress debuted her 11-carat elongated light brown diamond oval set on a statement black ceramic curve band, designed by James de Givenchy of Taffin, in 2019 and we still think about it all the time.

Jennifer Lopez’s Green Diamond Ring

When Ben Affleck proposed for the second time around to Jennifer Lopez in 2022, the occasion called for a show-stopping ring. The actor picked an 8.5-carat radiant-cut green diamond flanked by two trapezoid-shaped white diamonds and set on a classic platinum band, outdoing the 6-carat Harry Winston pink diamond he proposed with back in 2004. Referencing Lopez’s lucky color, the green-hued bling purchased from Beverly Hills Diamonds is believed to be worth over $5 million. (It’s not known whether Lopez kept the ring after the couple called it quits earlier this year.)

Another card-carrying member of the oval ring fan club is supermodel Jasmine Tookes, who became engaged to Snapchat developer Juan David Borrero in 2022. Word has it that the tech businessman spent eight months designing the custom sparkler with Ritani, perfecting the seven-carat oval diamond which is set in 18k yellow gold with a hidden halo and diamond-embellished prongs (believed to be worth at least a quarter of a million dollars). A quintessentially elegant ring for TikTok’s preeminent style star.

She was among the most talked-about brides of 2023, so naturally there’s equal fascination surrounding Sofia Richie Grainge’s engagement ring. The timeless emerald-cut ring sits on a dainty band and was designed by Stephanie Gottlieb. Experts believe the diamond is around six carats, putting its rumored value at $300,000. Quiet luxury, indeed.

Elizabeth Taylor’s 33-Carat Ring

There are rings, and then there is the ring. Arguably the most iconic engagement ring of all time belonged to the late Elizabeth Taylor. Infamously engaged 10 times (and married eight; twice to Richard Burton), it’s the ring that Burton bought for Taylor in 1968 during their love affair that will be forever remembered. Now known as the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond, the actor purchased the 33.19-carat Asscher-cut Type IIa diamond ring for his wife in 1968. In December 2011, after her death, the ring was sold for a staggering $8.8 million at an auction.

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring isn’t just one of the most-searched rings on the internet; it also has significant and sentimental meaning. Prince Harry custom-made the ring with royal jeweler Cleave & Company, using a large cushion-cut center diamond sourced from Botswana. That diamond is surrounded by two stones from the personal collection of his mother, the late Princess Diana, with the three stones thus symbolizing the past, present, and future coming together. In recent years, it appears that the Duchess of Sussex has updated the ring’s original gold band to a sparkling new pavé version.

Emily Ratakowski’s Toi Et Moi Ring

In 2018, Ratajkowski debuted her Toi et Moi ring, spawning a major trend in the process. The statement ring featured two adjoining square-cut and pear-cut diamonds on a gold band and was designed by her friend Alison Chemla of Alison Lou. In a twist, this year, following her 2022 divorce, the model and mom showcased her new ‘divorce rings’ on Instagram, as she showed off the repurposed rocks fashioned into two new eye-catching accessories.
