The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for more than 226,000 Hyundai SUVs and sedans for a faulty rearview camera.

Here is what you need to know about the vehicle recalls published by NHTSA from Nov. 24 to Nov. 30.

Maserati recall for rearview camera failure  

Maserati is recalling 1,710 of its 2023-2024 Grecale and 2024 GranTurismo vehicles.  

In the NHTSA recall report, the luxury vehicles company said the Central Vision Park Assist Module (CVPAM) software may cause the driver’s rearview image to not display when the vehicle is shifted to reverse. 

If a driver’s rearview camera does not display it will increase the risk of injury or a crash, the recall report said. 

The government agency said that these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.” 

To fix the issue, dealers will update the CVPAM software for free, the NHTSA report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Jan. 10, 2025. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati’s number for this recall is 761.

Porsche recall for bright headlights 

Porsche is recalling 2,941 of its 2024-2025 Macan Electric vehicles.  

The automobile manufacturer said in the NHTSA report that the headlights may be too bright and exceed the maximum light output. This can affect the vision of drivers, the report said.

Bright headlights can interfere with other drivers’ visibility and can increase the risk of a crash, the report said. 

The NHTSA report said that these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” 

As a free service, dealers will reprogram the headlight control unit software for this recall, the report said. Recalled notification letters are expected to be delivered by Jan. 24, 2025. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche’s number for this recall is ARC5.

Honda recalls motorcycles for engine stall  

Honda is recalling 4,205 of its 2022 and 2024-2025 CRF1100 Africa Twin motorcycles. 

In the NHTSA recall report, the automobile company said that a software error in the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) may cause an engine stall or a loss of power. This can occur when the Wheelie Control feature is activated, the report said.  

When a vehicle’s engine stalls or loses power, it can increase the risk of a crash or injury, the recall report said.  

For free, dealers will reprogram the FI-ECU software, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Jan. 20, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda’s number for this recall is KR1.

  • 2022, 2024-2025 CRF1100 Africa Twin 

Toyota recalls Corolla, Corolla Hybrid for steering shaft detachment 

Toyota is recalling 8,057 of its 2023-2024 Corolla and Corolla Hybrid vehicles.  

The automotive manufacturer said in the NHTSA recall report the vehicles may have been equipped with a steering intermediate shaft assembly that may have developed cracks during the manufacturing process. If the cracks grow over time, the upper universal joint on the steering intermediate shaft assembly may separate.

The report said that the universal joint separates, it can result in a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash.  

Dealers will replace the intermediate steering shaft,the report said. This service will be completed for free. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Jan. 20, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota’s number for this recall is 24TB13/24TA13. 

Recalled Toyota vehicles (8,057):     

  • 2023-2024 Corolla 
  • 2023-2024 Corolla Hybrid 

Mercedes-Benz recall for sunroof panel detachment  

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 33,456 of its vehicles because the glass sunroof panel may not be secured correctly and can detach, the automaker said in a NHTSA report.

When a vehicle has a detached sunroof panel, it can become a road hazard, the recall report said. This will increase the risk of a crash. 

As a free service, dealers will inspect and replace the sunroof panel, as necessary, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Jan. 18, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. This recall is an expansion of previous NHTSA recall number 22V-954.

  • 2001-2011 C-Class 
  • 2001-2011 CLK 
  • 2001-2011 E-Class 
  • 2001-2011 CLS 

Hyundai recalls Santa Fe, Elantra for rearview camera failure  

Hyundai is recalling 226,118 of its vehicles.  

The automotive manufacturer said in the NHTSA report that a damaged printed circuit board may cause the rearview camera image to not display.  

If a driver’s rearview camera does not display it will increase the risk a crash, the recall report said. 

In the recall report it said that these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.” 

Hyundai dealers will replace the rearview camera for free, the recall report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by Jan.19, 2025. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 271.
